'If It's Football, It's Vital'

That Wasn't Meant to Happen!

Part of my "grand plan" for Charlton's automatic promotion was to pick up 14 points from our final 6 games.

This meant that the game at play-off chasing (even if they are outsiders for this) Southampton was a "must not lose" game with a point not really being that bad even if it wouldn't really be enough. The fact that we lost this at St Mary's 1-0 on Saturday wasn't a good start and this, following other results we were left 4 points behind Millwall who move back into second behind Norwich City following Swindon Town's heavy defeat, The Robins drew 1-1 with Exeter City last night so they've dropped more points.

The game against Colchester United at The Valley on tonight now takes on even more important, first and foremost we can't afford to lose as this would see The U's close the gap on us and that could mean we might even slip out of the play-off places! However it is a game that we must be looking to win if we want to retain any hopes of securing automatic promotion, which would become distantly lingering ones if we can't!

Our first aim has to be to secure this win or two for a play-off place at least and even with the setback against The Saints on Saturday we should still be targeting automatic promotion though as it's still tight at the top isn't it, this would mean that tonight's game at SE7 must be viewed as a "must win" one though.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on our weekend slip up and what this means? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.
