If Only It Was That Simple!!!

If Only It Was That Simple!!!

A striker that can score 20 goals a season is what Charlton are in the market for.

We're not asking a lot but this is chief scout Phil Chapple main job this summer to find us this player, Chapple told The Official Website: "We're always looking to improve on what we've got and that will be the case this summer.

"I don't think we need to improve that much to go up. There are some areas that we need to address. Bar Norwich City it was very tight.

"Norwich might not have been the best team last season but they had someone who could nick them a goal. And they regularly scored late on; they ground out results.

"If you look at the team last year we lacked someone who could score 20 goals. It's changing those 0-0s into 1-0s that can define a season."

If only it was that simple to find a 20 goal a season man, and to do this on a shoe-sting budget as well. I'm sure that we'll be able to spot a few of them over the summer, convincing them to come to The Valley and being able to afford them are other matters entirely!

Should someone be able to pull a striker of this quality out of a hat with our financial constraints I'll be amazed and I'll not be holding my breath, however I'll be keeping my fingers crossed as if we'd had a half decent striker last season we'd be back in The Championship now.

Thinking about it we did have one for the latter part of the season yet we didn't offer him a contract for this season, which I would've done with Nicky Forster even though he is 36-years-old. That is a 15-20 goal a season striker and we let him slip away.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on the simple task of finding a 20 goal a season striker.? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

Exactly, these types of players are not exactly easy to come across are they! Those that you can cost money, we've not got any.
