Charlton Sign A Striker!!!!!

Charlton's striking options have been boosted by the arrival of Pawel Abbott from Oldham Athletic.

Pawel has signed a two-year contract to become Friday's second signing, we also had an offer for Dagenham & Redbridge striker Paul Benson turned down.

A nominal fee has been paid for the 28-year-old with Phil Parkinson happy with his days work, Parkinson told The Official Website: "It's been a good day and it's great news to have Pawel on board.

"We know we are short in the striker department. Pawel is another player I've known for a while and I watched him for many years when he was at Huddersfield Town.

"He's a big target man who is always a goal threat, and he's got a good goalscoring record."

The Polish striker scored 13 goals for Oldham last season so we'll be hoping that he can replicate this for us this season. Abbott and fellow new arrival Simon Francis are expected to feature against Watford tomorrow.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on the signing of Pawel Abbott? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

Box of Swan Vesta's ? Pawel has been around a long time it seems - if he can get back to old scoring ways - could be a good signing.

Have looked up his playing career...he looks like one of those players who can turn it on then have a bit of a drought, none the less he looks a good signing, is he the 20 goals a season man Parky is looking for?

Not sure he'll get us 20 goals but if he can get half, or two thirds of that amount we'll not be doing bad really will we.

That was 13 goals in a relatively uncompetative side though, with decent players around him I would expect him to score maybe 20 goals...unfortunately that is still 5 short of the 25
