No Charlton Benefit To Liverpool Link-Up, Yet

The benefits of a link-up with Liverpool, as a result of Jonjo Shelvey's move to Liverpool aren't expected to be reaped by Charlton any time soon.

Part of the deal that took Shelvey to Anfield was a link-up with Roy Hodgson's side (it was Rafael Benitez's at the time) that would see us given some of their promising youngsters on loan, however Phil Parkinson isn't expecting any arrivals in the immediate future, Parkinson told The News Shopper: "Our chief scout Phil Chapple has been in discussions with Liverpool.

"At the moment there is nobody there who is going to come to us within the next few weeks."

I'm quite amazed by this as Liverpool must have a handful of youngsters that are coming through that aren't going to be in their first team this season? With new rules coming into place in The Premier League that limits squads to 25, with homegrown rules in place also there must be plenty of surpluses to select from?

We got a good price for the Addicks youngster when he left, however we'd be getting a better deal if some of their young players started moving to SE7 on loan!

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on the link-up with Liverpool, which isn't bringing any fruit yet? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.
