'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Parkinson Post MK Dons

Charlton put the disappointment of Saturday's League 1 defeat at Brentford behind us to record a 2-1 win at The Stadium:MK and secure a place in the quarter finals of the JP Trophy last night.

Pawel Abbott and Scott Wagstaff scored as we came from behind to beat Milton Keynes Dons and Phil Parkinson was happy with this response to that defeat that he felt was important, Parkinson said: "It is important because we came here after a defeat to Brentford, and it was important we put on a performance.

"We were live on TV in front of a decent turnout of fans. I felt we put in a good performance and I'm looking forward to going to Plymouth on Saturday."

The fitness and strength of his side impressed The Addicks boss most of all and the whole performance, apart from the opening couple of minutes that saw us fall behind was very pleasing, Parkinson added: "I thought we got stronger as the game went on and it's no surprise that someone like Scott Wagstaff, who is probably the best athlete I've worked with in my time in football, has popped in at the back stick to get the winner.

"I thought the fitness of the boys tonight was exceptional. We've had a lot of games, similar to MK Dons, and have been playing every Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and Tuesday.

"I was pleased with the overall performance, apart from the first two minutes, when we did switch off. But we've got some good experience on the pitch, especially with Christian Dailly back, and we responded well."

We certainly got out of jail in this one didn't we. We deserved to win though.

I watched this from the comfort of my armchair and a couple of beers to steadt the nerves...what joy to see us come back and a great performance from Kyel, topped by two well taken goals...Parky may be getting a bit more "drive" from his players
