No Truth To Ridsdale Charlton Rumours

No Truth To Ridsdale Charlton Rumours

Sunday newspaper reports (in The News Of The World) had been saying that Peter Ridsdale was planning a takeover of Charlton, however he's denied this.

The NOTW's report said that this proposed takeover was dividing the boardroom at SE7 as some were for and some were against the former Leeds United and Cardiff City chairman coming in.

What's wanted doesn't matter anyway as Ridsdale has categorically denied that he's plotting a takeover of The Addicks and has said that there's no truth in this at all, Ridsdale said: "I am disappointed the newspaper at no time sought to check this story with me. Media outlets that did were given a swift and truthful denial.

"At no time have I made a bid for Charlton nor do I intend to do so."

Ridsdale, who was also chairman of Barnsley for a short period feels that the whole issue is needless as if The NOTW had contacted him (of the football club) either would've told them there was no truth, adding: "Had the newspaper in question contacted me they could have quickly ensured that both myself and those connected with Charlton Athletic would have not had to cope with the regrettable fallout that this wholly inaccurate story has brought about."

Newspapers never let facts get in the way of a good story though do they!

Maybe so, but I wouldn't want Ridsdale.

As limited as possible if he is involved I'd hope!
