Valley Victory At Last

Goals from Helguson and Mason gave Cardiff a comfortable lead at The Valley on Tuesday. The Bluebirds were in complete control at that stage but two Johnnie Jackson goals late on saw the teams go in level at the break.

Charlton carried the momentum forward into the second half and goals from Dale Stephens, Danny Haynes and Rob Hulse gave the Addicks a seemingly match winning 5-2 lead.

Stoppage time goals from Noone and Gunnarsson saw Cardiff narrow the gap to 5-4 and Charlton had a nervy minute or two before they secured the three points.

Young striker, Michael Smith, scored on his debut for Newport County. Smith is on loan with the Welsh side.
