Two points dropped for Powell

Draws are often seen as either one point gained or two points dropped.

This one was seen as two points dropped, especially for Charlton boss Chris Powell after Yann Kermorgant had managed to finally beat an inspired Jack Butland in the Birmingham goal.

The goal came with just three minutes of normal time remaining, but despite only having a few minutes till full time, the three points were not going to Charlton because Wade Elliott scored a last minute equaliser for Birmingham.

"It is a real shame because I thought the boys performed well in conditions that were tough and we came up against a keeper who I felt was in imperious form, He made some really good saves and you can see why he has gone to the Premier League. Powell told cafc.co.uk.

He added: "We eventually got the breakthrough which everyone craved, and so late in the game. You are then looking to see it out in a strong way, but it hasn`t happened and it`s a real disappointment.

"The fans have stuck by us today and I thought the players performed well in tough conditions, but at least we haven`t lost. I can take some positives from the performances and the previous games were two defeats so we have to start somewhere. It is another point for us but, of course it should have been three."

The point leaves Charlton and Birmingham still together in the Championship table with Charlton 15th on 40 points and Birmingham 16th on 38 points.
