Great Mental Strength
At two-nil down on Saturday afternoon many Charlton fans would have been forgiven for thinking that another Valley defeat was on, this time against Bolton.
Chris Powell was delighted to see his side come back from two down to win 3-2 in the end after goals from Johnnie Jackson, Dorian Dervite and Yann Kermorgant.
Bolton having two players sent off clearly helped The Addicks but Powell felt the signs of a comeback where on anyway and great "mental strength" was shown to achieve this: 'It was some game, but at 2-0 down it wasn't. To be honest, we've done it already once this season, but regardless of the sending off it showed the mental strength of the players.
'To drag themselves up from that, the momentum went in our favour - Johnnie Jackson was immense.
'We took advantage of the first sending off, and the crowd got behind us. They were frustrated but they showed how much they wanted us to win.
'We kept going in that 10-15 minute period in the first half to give ourselves a fighting chance. Our goal gave Bolton food for thought.'
A rare Valley win has eased any lingering relegation worries Charlton had, they're not yet over but you'd think that kicking off the Easter schedule with a win has gone someway towards ensuring Championship football will be seen again next season.
