Play Your Way To A Longer Deal
Cameron Stewart is at the stage that no footballer wants to be; they are "surplus to requirements" at their parent club.
Fortunately for Stewart the Hull man was wanted at Charlton, and Chris Powell moved to bring him in on loan on transfer window day last week...
Initially the winger is on loan until January, however Powell knows what he has to offer and knows what he could get from him. It is up to him to do the job, if he does Powell is already thinking about a longer-term stay at the Valley.
Powell told South London Today: 'Cameron is someone who came to my attention way back. I always thought he was a good player and he had a superb season at Hull when he first went there.
'I remember Nigel Pearson bidding £1million to try and get him to Leicester when he first went back there.
'He is a quick, direct winger. We'll need to bring him up to speed because he had a minor injury through pre-season.
'He'll give me options. I can play with two genuine wide men but also use him in the number 10 role off of a striker.
'He has come in short term but I'll be keeping my eye on him as someone that could be here longer.'
Powell has revealed how the 22-year-old stayed in London to do some extra training sessions over the weekend when most others went away due to the international break, this is a positive sign of commitment and effort so if he can transfer that onto the pitch Charlton won't go far wrong.
Stewart is a talented footballer, if he can show the form he's truly capable of then he'll almost certainly get a loan extension until the summer you'd think...
