Addicks Miss Out On Liege Midfielder?
Not too long back, possibly less than 24-hours ago, Charlton were believed to be close to securing the signature of another Standard Liege player. He's now believed to have moved on to a different club altogether?
Reports from Turkey were claiming that the Addicks were close to reaching an agreement with Liege, as we all know a club also owned by the new owner at the Valley, to bring in Turkish midfielder Alpaslan Öztürk who was also being chased by West Ham, Parma and Liverpool.
His agent Saffet Balkan, talking to Turkish-football.com, has now claimed that an agreement has been reached with Turkish club Kasımpaşa for them to take him on loan with the view to a permanent transfer.
Balkan is quoted as saying: 'West Ham, Parma and Liverpool were interested in Alpaslan.
'Charlton also recently made an offer however, Alpaslan has decided to join Kasımpaşa and is looking forwards to the prospect of playing first team football as well as working alongside Shota Arveladze.
'Alpaslan wanted a move to Turkey and aims to break into the senior Turkish national team.'
I don't know too much, if anything, about the player but I'm sure that Chris Powell will be able to turn his attentions elsewhere in what is likely to be a busy month as he's already express thoughts that he think it will.
Not that too much money, well excessive money, is expected to be splashed around. It'll be money more likely well spent.
