Cause For Concern
The pitch at Charlton is causing Chris Powell a few problems, in fact he's gone as far as saying it's cost his side points this season.
A problem with the drainage needs to be sorted out, however this can't be done until the season ends but more than one postponement has already been seen at the Valley due to waterlogging, included the recently Oxford FA cup being postponed twice in less than a week.
This finally went ahead on Tuesday but the pitch was in terrible shape.
Powell has praised the groundsmen for what they've tried to do but fears for the remainder of the home games and knows points need to be collected away from the Valley to compensate.
The Charlton boss said: 'There are areas of concern, with every pass you are thinking 'is it going to make it, will it bobble over his foot?'
'There is not much we can do about it, the groundstaff have worked tirelessly but it's only something that can be remedied at the end of the season, which is a shame because we have a number of games to play here yet.
'Given the position we are in we are going to have pick up points away from home and do our best to pick them up at home as well.'
Fortunately this weekend for Powell, Charlton and the Valley pitch, Charlton will be playing away to Middlesbrough on Saturday, and this is as good a starting place as any to look to collect points.
