Wiggins Going Nowhere After new Deal
One player that will not be leaving Charlton this month, unless a huge offer now comes in, is Rhoys Wiggins.
Rumour had it that Wiggins was being courted by his former side Bournemouth, however if they want to sign him now they would have to break the bank after the signing of a new long-term contract to stay at the Valley was revealed on Thursday.
Wiggins, who would have been out of contract in the summer, is happy to commit his future to the club and get the security that he was after.
The defender told the official website: 'I've got security now and I can just concentrate on the football side.
'There were a few little fine details to try and sort out, but I was happy with the contract offer that was put in front of me to start with.'
The 26-year-old will now remain with the Addicks for the next four and a half years.
Chris Powell was obviously delighted to get the Welshman tied down to a long-term deal and hopes that other contracts can now be sorted, which were always his priority once new ownership of the club was sorted out.
Powell added: 'With his contract being up in the summer it was vital that we get some of our key players moving forward signed up.
'Negotiations are never easy, but I think Rhoys is happy here and he is a player I feel will carry on getting better and better.
'He is deserving of that contract. It's brilliant for us and great news for our supporters.'
