'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Kids Are Alright

Rhoys Wiggins suffered his latest injury setback for Charlton within minutes of kick-off against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Wiggins, fresh from a new long-term contract being signed with the club, lasted only 8-minutes of the trip to the DW Stadium on Saturday before being forced off by a hamstring problem to be replaced by Harry Lennon.

Lennon, along with Diego Poyet and Jordan Cousins were praised by the Welshman for their performances in that game, which was made tougher playing against an experienced and talented Wigan side.

The left back said: 'You are playing against a side that have got some good individuals and we had to put on yet another youngster really early on,' said manager Chris Powell.

'I thought Harry Lennon acquitted himself really well, along with Diego Poyet and Jordan Cousins - three lads from the academy.'

Losing in such a cruel way against Wigan will be tough for the youngster to take, but they'll have to just get on with it and prepare for Birmingham City this week but it is a game that Wiggins will do well to be fit for.
