'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Resolve The Bosses Future

Yann Kermorgant has had plenty to say this past weekend, with the South London Press giving him plenty of airtime.

The former Addicks striker believes that Chris Powell should have been offered a new contract by Roland Duchatelet upon his takeover at the Valley.

Had this happened he believes that it would have basically 'set the tone' and put plenty at ease knowing that the owner had full faith in Powell and backed him fully from the very start of his ownership.

Kermorgant said: 'The first thing to do was give a new contract to the gaffer - that would make the difference for all the other players. Because at least you would see the new owner would back the gaffer, would give him the deal he deserved for what he had done in the last two or three years with not a lot of money.

'I've asked so many times when the gaffer is going to have a new deal? No answer. No answer'

'When I met the owner for the only time, him and director Katrien Meire were saying 'we love what he has done, he is a great manager'. You can say that - then give him a contract. Even one year. It is not a lot but at least you give him one year. They have still not moved.

'So what does that mean? That means they didn't really want to offer him something and the gaffer would be judged on which players he has lost, which he didn't want, and which players the owner has brought in, that he maybe didn't want.'

The 32-year-old knows that he owes a lot to Powell as it was he, formerly a teammate of his at Leicester when Powell was a player-coach with them, that brought him back into the English game when he signed him for the Addicks.

With a new contract not coming Powell's way, results not really improving and the end of this drawing closer and closer, the likelihood of him getting a new one seem to be diminishing.
