'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ambrose welcomes fresh start

The former Newcastle Utd and Ipswich star was finding appearances hard to come by with past boss Iain Dowie. Since Alan Pardew has taken over from the departed Les Reed he has regained his place in the starting eleven.

'At the start of the season when it was not going well for us, the manager changed things and I was not in his thoughts,' said Ambrose.

'Now the new boss has come in and I find myself back in the side.

'The gaffer has his own ideas now, which at the moment I am part of.

'I feel I have been performing quite well, and now hopefully I can carry that on and help the team to victories, because that is what we need.

'I have not has as many games as I would have liked this season, but hopefully I can get back on the score sheet again, because without Benty we will need that in the next few games.'

Ambrose added: 'Since the new manager has come in, everyone is really giving it a go.

'The Arsenal result was a bit of a set-back, but we will all be going for it again over the next few games.'
