'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Djimi Traore joins Pompey

The deal brings an end to a short-lived stay at The Valley for the 26-year-old defender, who only joined Charlton from Liverpool in early August.

Former Charlton head coach Iain Dowie paid the Anfield giants £2m for the Mali international.

But the man who won the Champions League in 2005 has become the second departure of the Alan Pardew era, following back up keeper Andersen out of the club.

It seems Traore will be quickly replaced, with a deal for Man City's left back Ben Thatcher being agreed.

The Charlton fight against relegation may be made a little easier by selling Traore, ours on the other hand may just be beginning! If we add Diawara I really fear for our top six place...

Your be fine with Diawara he needs to adjust and he is getting their. youve got Traore at a good price and he will be a good back up player as he can play anywhere at the back. i cant see Diawara being a permanent move just a loan as we dont want to lose him yet. Andy o'brien this way i hear, have you got any whispers down your way?

You can have Andy O'Brien, never rated him another truely inspired (Alain Perrin) signing. I have heard these reports a day or so back, a loan exchange looks likely with Jerome Thomas also coming to us. Quite like the little guy.
pompeyrug
Ill be gutted if we let him go but i think Fulham are favourites for Thomas. If we do sell it should be for a decent fee as the lads got quality.

I agree with you Dave. Traore will be good for us. I know some people will be sceptical, but then those Pompey fans said exactly the same about Pamerot, Davies and Kanu. All 3 now are brilliant for Pompey. As you say he can play anywhere so again that should give him chance of 90 minutes a few times each month a,d can only help the lad. Andy o'brien also gets a lot of stick, but to be honest he will give you 110% week in week out. He does make mistakes, but then who doesnt. Hope you stay up Lads, and West Ham go down in your place. I think there was a lot of understand stuff went on to get Pardew out of the frame, and if He keeps you up and they go down it'll be justice.

All i ask is you dont make us take Faye back. He was full of Promise when he first came to Pompey. Dreamed of Bright Lights and got very lazy. Went to Newcastle and was a total flop. You bought him and i thought he would have learnt his lesson and knuckled down. But he hasnt i dont think. i think he is one who picks up his pay check and goes home.
Midge
Agreed Faye has been a big let down as has Traore. Ill be happy if both have gone by 1st of Feb.

Must be April 1st or has someone spiked Harrys wine.
