Davids Bid Fails
The Charlton board have failed in a bid to sign Edgar Davids from Tottenham Hotspur.
Addicks boss Alan Pardew was hoping to sign the 33-year-old this month in order to add some much needed experience to his midfield for the battle against relegation. The former dutch star has found appearances in a Spurs shirt extremely hard to come by this season.
Manager Alan Pardew is clearly trying to attract the right type of player to aid our battle against the drop.
'I thought he'd be the right character to deal with the situation we are in,' Pardew said.
'A bit like Ben Thatcher, but unfortunately we couldn't agree with Tottenham or the player. We are looking for that kind of experience and attitude.
'It would have been great for Charlton fans to see Edgar Davids run out in a Charlton shirt for these last 16 or 17 games and with the sort of attitude he has. Unfortunately it was close but it never quite happened.'
Pardew is also believed to be closing in on a loan deal for Seville forward Kepa Blanco. The striker is again finding appearances hard to come by. Man City and Everton are also intrested.
