Robinson Gives Holmes Update
Charlton manager Karl Robinson was giving an update on the future of Ricky Holmes yesterday following speculation he'd asked to leave the club.
The 30 year old winger is a known target for Sheffield United at least this summer, and Robinson confirmed our intention was to keep Holmes to aide in our own promotion bid next season.
In fact we have turned down two solid offers for the players with the intention of keeping him.
Speaking to the London News Online Robinson said that he reiterated his desire to keep Holmes, and he played down that the player had physically asked to leave.
'Not that I know of, unless the Sheffield press spoke to him personally.'
Having returned to pre season training at the start of the week with Charlton, Robinson said that good communication had been had between him, the player and his representatives and whilst it was known a few clubs were interested in his services, unless we receive a silly offer he's staying.
'We`ve sat down and had a conversation. His agent and the club are talking. We`ve had two solid bids which we have rejected. Every player at every level - top to bottom - has a price where it becomes a little bit silly. But we`re saying we don`t want to sell him.'
'A few teams want Ricky`s services but he`s been brilliant in pre-season the first few days. We know how important Ricky is to the team. The clubs knows that.'
