'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Massive Weekend

Charlton Athletic face a massive clash at the Valley on Bank Holiday Monday against Spurs, as they bid to escape the drop.

The focus for now though is on Saturday's games when Fulham, Wigan and West Ham are all playing home matches in the Premiership.

Im not sure what the mood will be come Monday night, the place will either be booming with excitement or be as quiet as a library. It all depends on what happens with other results from Saturday.

Fulham play Liverpool at home, Wigan take on Middlesbrough at the JJB Stadium and West Ham have a home match with Bolton Wanderers.

The worst outcome would be all three winning which would leave us requiring a miracle to beat the drop.

Saturday is going to be a nail biting time for all associated with Charlton. We desperately need all the results to go our way and as it was expected we are all clutching at straws and hoping.

Should the results favour the reds then a win against Spurs in our last home match of the season could take us out of the relegation zone with it all to be decided on the last game of the season. That is something that the club would be hoping possible and I`m sure we would all take that now if we could.

Sadly we have no influence on any of Saturday`s results and we have just got to pray to the footballing Gods that lady luck will shine down on SE7.

Alan Pardew will be without Ben Thatcher for the visit of Tottenham after his crazy second yellow card against Blackburn Rovers sees him suspended.
That will mean Hreidarsson moving to left back, and Diawara could return to the side to partner Talal El Karkouri in the middle of the defence.

For one player it will be his last game for Charlton and we fans have got to give him the send off he deserves. Scott Carson, our player of the year, is not allowed to face Liverpool on the last day and he bows out on Monday night. Let`s make sure we give him a decent send off and thank him for his efforts this year. Scott has been the only good thing to come out of this torrid season.

For now we have to sit and prey and hopefully come Monday we still have a part to play in this relegation dog fight.

Keep the faith

I wish you all the luck to stay up in place of a certain team from the east end but I am hoping 3 points come our way come monday. Never been to the Valley beofre but will make my 1st appearence on Monday!! Don't you just love Bank Holiday Monday evening games...lets just hope for a bit of sunshine during the day!!
matt..shelfsidespurs
My prediction is for a great game ending 5-3 to Spurs
Shannon
i hope you guys stay up and those east end w****** go down

Sorry but we've gotta be cheering for Wet Spam this weekend as we need them to beat Bolton to help us in our own little fight for UEFA positions but other than that I hope it goes your way (apart from Monday night of course, but then at least this weekend will involve not too much movement down the bottom end if you all loose, exepct the spam).
Gavaldinho
To be fair, I reckon Charlton will end up going down whatever, and hopefully Wet Spam will join them. Charlton must be better than they were at the Lane, but still think Spurs will do the business. With a bit of luck we could be fifth/sixth by next Tuesday, still with a game in hand!

Im not looking forward to facing you guys but if the results go our way on sat we could be well fired up for it and on our day we can beat spurs. I think you guys will finish 5th and bolton and everton will run out of steam.
Pardew is God
You yids have come along quietly this year and i think you will finish abover bolton and everton aswell. Can you hold onto Berbatov next year? If you don't im sure you will come calling for Darren Bent.
davecook
I would like to see Chalton stay up, Pardew was shafted by west ham and how sweet it would be for him to put one over on Gollum.

davecook? A little groggy because you're facing trips to Leicester and Palace next year? Come on, theres no need for that! 2-1 to the Yids.

OK,here"s whats going to happen....Charlton"s need for 3 points means they need goals. They will be brave & commit body"s forward at every available opportunity & in the process leave gaps at the back wider than The Blackwall Tunnel...!!Tottenham will break up the Addicks posession in their final third & hit them on the break at will. The pace of Lennon & Defoe (who ALLWAYS scores v Charlton) & the pace that Tottenham move the ball through midfield is going to be far too much for Pardew"s boys to handle. Please dont think im taking the pizz but i am in no doubt whatsoever that Charlton"s season will be well over long before the half time whistle blows.I think even the most ardent Charlton fan will acknowledge that they will need to score at least 4 times to bag 3 points.Tottenham"s football at Boro last week was at times simply breath taking. Some of the slickest pass & move football that i have seen in a long time.Boro spent an hour having the pizz took out of them big style.!

You could have done with out the Fulham win but I cannot see you getting six points from your last two games but good luck.

I suppose the down side is if you were relegated the Vulturers would be circling the club looking at what could be pecked away....

col8-Apart from Bent there is little for the vulture"s to get excited about. From what i have seen of Charlton over both this & last season they would struggle to give half that lot away on free transfers.Even the Vulture"s would turn their noses up.........

Im so pleased it all worked out well for chicken Parkinson, all good things come to he who waits.....
