'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Boss Happy With Home Start

The Addicks will play host to Scunthorpe United as we undertake our first game outside the Premiership since 1999/2000.

And the Valley boss is looking forward to pitting his wits against The Iron on August 11th, saying: 'We're delighted it's a home game.

Pards told the official site, 'We're playing the champions of the division below, which in my experience will be very difficult. They will be really up for it as it is their first game in a higher league so it will be a tough match.'

He continued: 'We're really looking forward to the new season and there is not long to go now.

'We're starting to prepare and get players in to build the squad and are focusing on the new campaign.

'I hope we have the same sort of support we had last year from the fans, who have been magnificent since I returned to the club.'

You can never underestimate the underdogs especially when they are champions, with all the confidence they have gained. However i think your at home, and you do have the experience advantage
