Pards Wants Two More

Following Charlton`s 5-0 drubbing of Gillingham on Saturday, Addicks boss Alan Pardew has confirmed that although his new signings have impressed he is still looking to add two more players into his squad before Charlton kick off the season at home to Scunthorpe.

So far Pardew has brought in eight players spending just over £3.2M in the process. Luke Varney makes up the bulk of that spending he alone commanding a £2M fee following a move from League One side Crewe.

Two players that have been heavily linked with a move to south east London in recent weeks are MK Don`s Izale McLeod and West Ham`s Hayden Mullins, the latter being a Pardew purchase while he was in charge of The Hammers. Both players would cost Charlton around £1M.

Pardew told the official Charlton website: " I want two more players. I`ve said to the chairman that we`re short and he`ll put in every penny he can to help us get back in the Premiership."

He continued, "I`m probably looking for two more players who carry experience although the younger players I have brought in so far have been fantastic."

Andrew Cole was a name that was thrown into the ring for a potential move to SE7 towards the end of last season as The Addicks battled in vein to avoid the drop. The Pompey striker was then reportedly wanted for his journeyman experience and ability to poach goals and his name has return on the rumour circuit.

News regarding further players leaving Charlton this season has seen young winger, Jerome Thomas linked with possible moves to either Derby County or Everton who have both made initial inquires about the former England U-21 star who joined The Addicks from Arsenal three years ago for a bargain £100,000 fee.

Charlton have set an £8M price tag on Thomas` head in an attempted to scare off potential suitors as the player has made no secret of his ambitions to be playing at the highest level again.

£8m Would Certainly Scare most Clubs Off, Good Player On His Day More Like £4m His Real Worth....!
