Diawara Departs

Senegal international Souleymane Diawara has left Championship side Charlton to join French club Bordeaux, the London club have confirmed.

The 28-year-old defender has signed a four-year deal with Bordeaux, who are coached by French legend and former Man Utd defender Laurent Blanc.

Diawara knows France well having played there before at Le Havre, followed by Sochaux in 2003 before signing for the Charlton in 2006.

Diawara has signed a four-year deal with Les Girondins for a reported fee of 4million euros (£2.7m). That fee could rise depending on appearances.

After the club turned down a bid earlier this week the defender's exit was always on the cards. According to Pardew Diawara is a loss to the club and he would have stayed if his agent hadn't forced the issue.

Pardew revealed he is considering taking action against Diawara's agent for his role in the defender's departure.

'I didn't want to lose Souley. His agent played a massive part in his departure and I'm currently considering whether to report him to the Football League and the relevant authorities,' said Pardew.

'As a person Souley was a good guy, and I wish him all the best at Bordeaux and thank him for his efforts here.'
