Racon Signs Up

Alan Pardew's latest recruit is French star Therry Racon. The 23 year old signed his deal along with Zheng Zhi in front of The Valley crowd before todays draw with Scunthorpe.

Pardew revealed on Friday that the youngster was having a medical at the club and he expected the deal to be completed.

Speaking on Friday to the official website Pards said, 'We are trying to sign someone today, and he's having a medical."

'We feel we've had good success with Yassin Moutaouakil since he has been here, and Therry is coming from the same division.

'He is a central midfielder with fantastic athletic ability and agility and I like the look of his composure.

'It's an area I felt we needed to strengthen and both he and ZiZi will be strong competition for the likes of Ambrose, Semedo and Matty Holland.'

Pardew added: 'He's a young player finding his way, but we have high hopes for him.'

The fee for Racon is 550,000 euros, and he signed a four-year contract on the pitch in front of the crowd against Scunthorpe United.

Also signing on the pitch was Zheng Zhi and both players received a great welcome from the fans.

Pardew's summer shopping now stands at 12 new signings, with the gaffer promising at least one more in as a replacement for the departed Diawarra.
