Dickson Eyeing Valley Return

Chris Dickinson scored his first senior hat trick during the week for Gillingham, with who he is on loan.

The Addicks youngster returned from a loan with Crewe only to be sent out on loan to the Gills to gain further experience. However, he has made it clear that he sees his future at the valley, as he told the media: 'Ideally I would like to be at Charlton, banging in the goals to fire the club back into the Premier League.

'Last year it was fantastic to train alongside people like Darren Bent and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and this year there are guys at the club like Svetoslav Todorov and Chris Iwelumo, who are great players.

'But I've come from non-league and the gaffer says he wants me to get experience at League One level first. Hopefully I can go back at some point in the season and help them maintain their progress, because they're doing so well.'

Initially I was not that happy to see him go out on loan again, but it would appear that this has been an inspired decision yet again by Alan Pardew, and all being well he will return and play his part later in the season for the Addicks.

It is very good to hear him talking like this, and I do look forward to him returning. If he can get some action under his belt for the Addicks before the season is out it will benefit everyone.
