'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It was Wrong to Block ZZ Call-up?

Usually I do not actually focus specifically on a single poll when the results are revealed, but the one surrounding the Addicks refusal to release Zheng Zhi for international duty later this month had caught my eye.

China has wanted him to play in two international matches later this month, however as these games were outside of the designated international window the Addicks have refused to let him play, something which they are quite entitled to do so under the current rules of the game set down by FIFA.

It was quite an even split with 30% both saying Yes the Addicks were right to block this and they could see both sides of the argument. However, the majority ruled and 40% thought the Addicks were wrong because it is his country.

Even though I might not agree with the final outcome of the poll I can see all sides of this argument, and as such I can see how it could have gone anyway but the defining factor is that FIFA set out designated windows in which international matches are scheduled to be played within, so to refuse a player within this window would be well out of order (and wouldn't be allowed) however with the Football Associations, or Federations as some are of all countries knowing this, if their matches fall outside of this window they can have little argument.

In all fairness to the Chinese Football Federation (or Association) they have not argued this, but as this is something that I feel strongly on, and do think that the Addicks were well within their rights to block such a move for Zheng Zhi I felt I had to say a little more on this matter than just accept what that recent poll showed.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on this issue? Am I just talking rubbish, or do I make sense? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

I really do feel that voting for the Addicks being wrong on this matter was wrong, as I think my argument above backs up

Well I voted for seeing both sides! It's a hard one isn't it. The selfish part of me is glad that he's not going, but another side of me is thinking it's slightly unfair to China. But your argument is fair sir and may have swayed me :)
