Some people don't get any luck at all do they; Addicks defender Cory Gibbs is most certainly one of them.
The American international was looking forward to forcing his way into Alan Pardew's plans, and had hoped to finally get some football with the Addicks but only 23 minutes into his reserve comeback on Monday he broke not one, not two but three metatarsals in his left foot, which looks like ruling him out for this season too, Alan Pardew told the Addicks site: 'This guy has been very unlucky in his career at Charlton and I feel for him.
'He's a really top guy who is so disheartened after suffering this latest injury.
'It was an impact injury, not one that just happened. I know the rest of the squad will rally round him because football clubs are very supportive like that.'
Since signing a pre-contract in 2006 he has been forced to miss the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany with a knee injury, and then missed the whole of last season (apart from 45 minutes of reserve football) with that injury and other knocks, so with him now looking like missing this season too this will mean in two seasons with the Addicks he will have not made a single first team appearance.
Cory Gibbs' Addicks career could be over before it has started, as although he has 18-months left on his current contract he will have his work cut out to force his way back in when he is eventually fit as Alan Pardew has plenty of other defensive options, and would almost certainly look to add to this further should an instant return to the Premier League be achieved.
What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on the latest Cory Gibbs injury? How unlucky is this guy, and does this spell the end for him with the Addicks? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.
