Time for the Addicks to get Tough

Alan Pardew has warned his troops that they will have to toughen up if promotion back to the Premier League is to be achieved.

The defeat to Plymouth this week made it back to back defeats for the Addicks, and in order for things to turn around Alan Pardew feels that we need to show a meaner streak and toughen up or we will be muscled out of the promotion places. He acknowledges that Watford are running away with the Championship but we still have plenty to offer if we can do this, as he told the media after the Plymouth defeat: 'We let in two soft goals and our play was great to a point but we didn't look as sharp in the final third as we have done.

'We need to get a win under our belts but we need to be big and brave because the league is wide open. Watford are setting a blazing trail but apart from that it's there for us and a few results will have us right up there.

'There's a question mark over my side physically but we have to stand up to that.'

The Championship is much more physical to the Premier League, but many of the players we currently have are used to this standard, or have been so it shouldn't be new to them, the eye seems to have been taken off the ball recently, but this can (and should) soon be rectified.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Alan Pardew's thoughts? Are we too soft, or is it just too sloppy? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

Maybe we could do with toughening up as AP says, but we have also been sloppy in our recent matches, with it seeming like some have minds elsewhere. Maybe recent international break haven't helped but they can't be used as excuses. All teams have a blip in form don't they, hopefully this is juts ours?

You gotta hope, haven't you!!! I just keep thinking we'll be okay - I really do! And I've still got that good feeling - hasn't left me just yet hehe :) But let's face it, we will need to get ourselves sorted, before we go back up eh?

Sometimes you just need a shake and you snap out of whatever slumber you are in (as we are) so hopefully these last two defeats will do that.

Yup - may be just what we need. As I've always said, negative things can be turned into positive things! You just gotta see them that way :)
