Powell - Addicks Are Back On Track

Charlton veteran Chris Powell says he's delighted the Addicks are back on track as he tips a team-mate for future success...

'I`ve been really pleased to see how well Grant Basey has been playing. Obviously he came in after I was injured and he`s a very good young player. Initially I came back here as cover for Ben Thatcher and to some extent Cory Gibbs, but with the way things have turned out I`ve ended up playing a lot of games.

'We always felt Grant would come through. He`s probably been thrown in a bit earlier than we would have wanted, but he`s done very well and it will be great experience for him.'

A bit of a slow start for you but now have put some really good results together and now seem to be going in the right direction.
will it ever happen

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't expecting us to go straight back up, but you can't count your chickens can you SMOKIEJACK. I feel that the late, late winner over Southampton saw us turn the corner will it ever happen. As far as Grant Basey goes he has come in and done brilliantly, the Addicks have a lot of young talent and we will see even more of this as the season goes on.

After three consecutive wins I am sure you could have done without the international break!!

I wouldn't disagree with you, but at the same time it gave a few a chance to get fit and that. Not an ideal break, but are they ever?
