Pardew Confesses the Better Team Won

Pardew Confesses the Better Team Won

Alan Pardew had no excuses after the Addicks 3-0 Valley defeat at the hands of Sheffield United on Tuesday evening, conceding the better team won.

After a run of four straight wins, including fours straight clean sheets this was brought to a dramatic halt as the Blades shocked the Addicks to win at the Valley for the first time in more than thirty five years, but the Addicks manager had no excuses: "We can have no excuses because Sheffield United have some great individuals and the best team won," Alan Pardew told the Kent messenger.

"We didn't start well and once they got the goal it gave them the lift they were looking for.

"I cannot deny that we were a bit flat, which was surprising as we came into the game on the back of an exceptional performance at Preston on Saturday."

"There were things that went on in the first half that worried me and I will address those."

Next up for the Addicks are Burnley at the Valley on Saturday, who themselves beat top of the table Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday, so a further chance to close the gap on the hornets was lost as a result of the defeat.

We were a little unlucky, but the best way to respond to this is win at the weekend. Watford are on a terrible run, so as long as another good run is built up again by us now this can be recovered from quickly.

If the top two lose then it makes no difference...

I didn't see the game so I really don't know if we were unlucky or not! 3-0 shouldn't really happen at home though eh? Hope whatever needs sorting, gets sorted pronto!

Twice, that is bad luck. I had read that Wolves were a bit lucky to have won, but that is lucky isn't it.
