McCarthy Earns Pardew Praise

Our last minute goalscoring hero against Leicester Patrick McCarthy has come in for much praise from Addicks boss Alan Pardew.

Patrick McCarthy, on what was a rare Addicks appearance on Saturday against the side that he joined us from in the summer stunned his former Foxes team-mates with a last minute overhead kick to earn us a point in the 1-1 draw. This goal also gained credit from Alan Pardew, who said: "It was a good time for Paddy to score his first league goal for us. But football has these strange quirks.

"To be fair he has probably been our best player. He defended well and then topped it off with a goal.

"I don't know where he learned to do that overhead kick but I was pleased to see it nestle in the corner."

Things haven't been easy for Patrick McCarthy since the defender made his switch last summer but what a way to return to your former club!

Nice one Paddy! Not everyone has been a fan of the bloke, but he played very well on Saturday and the goal (much like AP says) was the icing on the cake for him.

I was impressed with him when he came on against Hull. He is, clearly, working hard to overcome a patchy start with us and seems to have a bit of bottle to go with his skill. Long may this continue. Well done Paddy. Keep it up son! Bearing in mind the quality of his goal we could always play him up front. With, in my view, Todorov being our ownly technically gifted striker there is a place there for him! Kidding maybe but........

It could have to be something that is looked at, would he do any worse?
