Charlton Athletic vs. Leeds United

The Valley

1 May

Tension Time

A game Leeds will need to win if they are to be certain of heading into the last game with their destiny in their own hands.

It would take a bizarre set of circumstances for Charlton to clinch second spot but the game is equally important to them.

With sixth placed Huddersfield just a point behind with two winnable games to come, Charlton could easily find themselves facing Millwall or Leeds again in the initial stages of the play-offs.

Back in 1996 an unlikely Millwall draw at Ipswich was not enough to keep the Lions up, but did allow Charlton to make the play-offs, where they succumbed to Crystal Palace. Lions fans will be hoping Charlton can return the favour.

Vital Quotes:

Charlton Athletic Team News:

Jonjo Shlvey has left the club although he will not officially become a Liverpool player until 10 May. Sam Sodje looks to be winning his fitness battle and the Addicks could be unchanged.

Player to watch: Kyel Reid

Leeds United Team News:

Leeds have been in indifferent form since their stunning FA Cup victory at Old Trafford. Seemingly guaranteed the title at turn of the year, they now have a major fight on their hands to avoid the lottery of the play-offs.

Jermaine Beckford has been relegated to the bench recently with Arsenal loanee Sanchez Watt partnering Becchio up front.

Robert Snodgrass will pose a threat from the flank.

Gradel has been upfront with Becchio and has 3 in his last 5 games, Becchio has 5 in 4 games and Beckford 3 in 2 games, I hope the 3 points head back up the M1 come 5 O'Clock.

Our whole team has 4 in 6 games. Fortunately, one was against Leeds. Don't worry TT you will still get that second place!
