'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Charlton Athletic 0 - Leyton Orient 1

The Valley

25 January 7.45pm

Attendance: 15,955

Orient Express

The set back that had looked to be on the horizon for some while finally arrived at The Valley last night, witnessed by Sky's cameras.

Orient looked the hungrier outfit in the first-half though Charlton did have a glorious chance in stoppage time. Burton eluded the keeper, cut back and drove a shot at the far corner. Unforunately for the hosts, his effort was cleared on the line.

Charlton looked much brighter at the start of the second period, with Mooney going close, but fell behind just three minutes in when Scott McGleish nodded home Nicky Adams' cross.

Charlton then went on to dominate for a while and looked certain to equalise but the leveller never materialised. Parkinson used all three permitted substitutions in an attempt to change the course of the game.

Surprisingly Burton was among those replaced and his craft was missed.

A poor result that needs to be rectified on Saturday when Trnmere come calling at The Valley.

Star Player

Frazer Richardson was the star star performer on a disappointing night.
