Wirral Disappointed

The three home games were supposed to see Charlton harvest nine points. The reality is the team played poorly in all of the games and took just four.

New boy, Kyel Reid was the bright spot on another desperately disappointing afternoon.

The hosts dominated a scrappy first-half but again fell behind to a goal shortly after the break. They showed their customary resillience to draw level inside ten minutes and Burton spurned a glorious chance to snatch a late winner. Burton had missed another gilt edged chance in the first-half though the visitors hit the underside of the bar late on.

Sodje was credited with an own goal when he deflected a header past Randolph, on as a substitute for the injured Elliot. Bailey applied the finishing touch to Burton's knockdown from a left-wing corner.

Parkinson will have much to ponder before Tuesday's trip to Walsall.

Star Player

Kyel Reid, pace and composure, he brought balance to the team.

I feel that despite a few spurned chances Burton cannot really be criticised. He gives 100% every game and of some of the others did the same we would have got those 9 points. Burton is an excellent provider- he makes good flicks and touches, but unfortunately the cow that is Mooooooney simply has no presence physically or mentally. He nearly always seems to make the opposite run to the one he should, a centre forward who cannot win a header. The midfield has disappointed over all these games. Bailey has gone awol (bar a goal, Semedo hasgone off the boil, Sam is back to his past problem of not actually knowing when to release the ball (or knock it back to the right back). Reid was a good addition. I undertsand now the reasons for subbing him as given by Parky- shame some turned on him, though I can see why- Mooney was the one to go. Dare I say our best football was played at 4-4-1-1 and maybe we need a game or two of that to get it back?

Two points dropped and I was disappointed so Wirral Disappointment is the right title Red God.
