'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Charlton Athletic 1 - Leeds United 0

The Valley

1 May 3.00pm

Attendance: 23,198

Silence Is Golden

'One goal, we only want one goal,' sang the jubilant Leeds fans as their on loan midfielder, Andy Robinson, fired Tranmere into a two goal lead against Millwall.

Football's never that simple of course and when a Leeds player did score that coveted goal, it was at the wrong end.

It was enough to give Charlton three vital points which keeps their own automatic promotion hopes alive. No fewer than five clubs are still in the hunt for second spot as the season enters its closing stages.

Smart work from Darren Randolph, on two occasions, and Deon Burton kept the visitors at bay.

Nerves will be jangling all round the country next week before the promotion issue is settled.

Star Player

Darren Randolph, his outstanding late save secured the three points for Charlton.

That's the way to shut them up! If only we'd been able to get at least a point against Norwich, or a win against Exeter.
