Charlton Exit JPT

After a poor game that had 0-0 written all over it from an early stage, Charlton were eliminated from the JPT on penalties. Jackson, Racon & Reid had their efforts saved by Richard Lee with Gary Doherty the only Addick to score.

'Connor & former Addick, Charlie Macdonald scored for the Bees before Elliot foiled Michael Spillane. Gary Alexander netted the decisive fourth kick to earn Brentford a two-legged area final with Exeter, who also went through on penalties.

Brentford had the more clear cut chances from open play though Charlton had a decent looking penalty shout turned down near the end.

The Bees had identified Kyle Reid as the danger man and no fewer than three of their players were booked for fouls on the tricky winger.

Disappointing though it was, Charlton could ill afford more games in the New Year and Phil Parkinson may reluctantly view te defeat as a blessing in disguise.

Star Player

Gary Doherty, sokid throughout.
