Addicks Falter Again

A performance of stunning ineptitude was witnessed by a decent following of Addicks fans this afternoon.

Once again, there were changes with players asked to play out of position when there were better suited alternatives. Today, Racon was dropped with Wagstaff switched to the left and McCormack deployed on the wide right of midfield.

The Addicks left the field to a cacophony of boos at both full and half time. For the first time, the crowd vented its feelings at Chris Powell, chanting, 'You don't know what you're doing,' was chanted when Scott Wagstaff was withdrawn rather than Alan McCormack. You're not fit to wear the shirt, we want our Charlton back and we might as well go home were other chants that took to the air during the course of the afternoon.

The decisive Dagenham goals were scored by Jon Nurse, who along with front running partner, Bas Savage, caused the Addicks problems all afternoon, and the impressive Danny Green.

Frank Nouble netted a tap in a consolation for the Addicks in injury time. The defeat plunges Charlton to within nine points of the drop zone. With their next fixtures being Southanpton(h), Bournemouth(a), Rochdale(a), Leyton Orient(h), Southampton(a), Oldham(a) and Huddersfield(h), the Addicks will be looking nervously over their shoulders.

Fanciful notions of looking to next season need to be forgotten. This season is not done and dusted yet and Charlton need another few points before they can safely look ahead. Actions, not words are what are needed right now.
