Charlton Athletic 5 - Preston North End 2

The Valley

5 November 3.00pm

Attendance: 17,486

Five Star Charlton

After a quiet start, Charlton notched up four goals in 22 first half minutes. Jackson with two, one a penalty, Morrison and Wright-Phillips gave Charlton an unassailable lead.

Phil Brown made two changes at the interval and damage limitation seemed to be his aim. Charlton added a fifth when a gem of a cross from Rhoys Wiggins gave Danny Hollands the chance to scire his fifth goal of the season with a diving header.

The Addicks went to sleep at a corner five minutes from time and gifted Preston a goal, Morgan sciring with a header. In injury time, Daley took the ball with his back to goal, swivelled and crashed a shot past Hamer to give the score some respectability.

Star Player

Johnnie Jackson, led by example.
