Referee:

The Addicks managed to once again fight back from a deficit to avoid defeat, as they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Colchester at Layer Road.

The U's raced into a two goal lead with goals in quick succession from Mark Yeates, 32 minutes, after the old warrior Teddy Sheringham played him through, then former Addicks striker Kevin Lisbie, 38 minutes, came back to haunt his former side six minutes later, as we feared he would, as he headed home Johnnie Jackson's corner.

Svetoslav Todorov, 45 minutes, who was given the starting nod alongside Chris Iwelumo, was set-up by the latter, who flicked on for him to slot past the goalkeeper to reduce the deficit on half time.

The U's were reduced to ten men ten minutes into the second half when Matthew Connolly, 55 minutes, was sent off by the referee for pulling back Chris Iwelumo, on the advice of his assistant.

Zheng Zhi, 73 minutes, equalised for the Addicks after Luke Varney had headed down to ensure a share of the spoils.

At 2-0 down away from home with half time approaching, you would settle for a 2-2 draw wouldn't you! The U's are a really good side, without doubt on their patch so you can’t be disappointed with this can we.

Feels like a defeat for us, you were not worthy of a draw to be honest, totaly outplayed for large periods.

Maybe so but if chances aren't taken, or possession made the most of teams are more often than not punished. At 2-0 down againt the U's at Layer Road I would take a point all day long.

Have to agree. We will struggle against sides who dont play decent football. Games like this was a typical cup game vs lower league oppo. We need to learn how to play route 1 stuff like most of the championship. We deserved our point and when we turnmed it on they couldnt handle us.

Yes, credit has been given where it is due Deeno, I think that most of us have been very complimentary to the U's.
